Join me for a (free) experiment!?
This one just might change your life...
I’m not being hyperbolic when I say that this past holiday break changed my life.
While we’d need a four-hour tea/coffee date for me to dive into the details, I learned three important lessons:
We’re often DIFFERENT individuals facing familiar situations. (aka just because something has always played out a certain way in the past doesn’t guarantee that for the future. We’re always growing and becoming new people…even if we’re facing old “stuff”).
Your to-do list is exactly that, YOURS. Question internal and external urgency at every turn! There’s usually far less of it than you assume.
I want to throw my phone! And my TV, and my computer, and even my Kindle! Well, ok, not my phone, it’s new and has a really pretty case. But the rest of my screens…
I’m getting sick and tired of.
I know I’m not alone in this feeling. More and more people I talk to are looking for ways to go more analog vs. digital this year. People are looking for MORE ideas on doing LESS, consuming LESS, and being online and connected LESS.
Inspired by Amy Bolduc, host of the Grounded in Maine podcast, and her recent guest Kelsey Green, I went from simply “thinking about” more digital minimalism to actually implementing more analog habits in my life.
From their episode, I also decided to take Kelsey up on the screen-free challenge she posed, as an experiment! 🤸🏻♀️
AND, of course, following my curiosity… I simply HAD to bring Kelsey in as a guest on MY show too!
The Challenge: Experiment with Me Sunday, February 1st, 2026!
A special Screen-Free Sunday to celebrate Imbolc, the Celtic festival honoring the halfway point between the Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox.
What is the Screen-Free Sunday Challenge?
It’s a 24-hour experiment in presence.
No phone, no Kindle reader, laptop, or TV. And gloriously, NO endless doomscrolling!
Instead, you get a gift to be with yourself, to pause the autopilot, and interrupt the technological urge.
It’s one day to see what happens when the noise goes away. I did my first one on Sunday, December 28th, and can hardly WAIT until my next chance to go Screen-Free!
Join me on Sunday, February 1st, by signing up for Kelsey’s FREE Screen-Free Challenge HERE (make sure to make it official and sign up, cause she gives lots of prep and useful tips beforehand).
And comment below (or reply) to let me know if you’re going to give it a whirl so I can cheer you on, hold you accountable, and swap screen-free stories with you.
When I did the challenge, a lot shifted inside me.
I saw snow, like REALLY saw it, like I was seeing it for the first time. It was incredible (and oh so sparkly!). I’m not so sure it would’ve impacted me quite the same way had I been listening to a podcast or trying to capture it on camera.
If you prefer to wade in slowly… here are a few other analog experiments to try:
Swap nightly Netflix or HBO for a book! My husband and I all but stopped watching TV about nine months ago. Most nights, we spend two or three hours devouring books of all genres and sizes instead. I’ve been sleeping better than ever since we started this, and I just feel better overall. Coincidence? I think not.
Get your notebook and paper planner back out! I still have to use my Google calendar for a lot of things (I’m a mere mortal after all), but to plan my weeks, days, months, and every single thing in between, I use a good old-fashioned notebook, Pilot G-2 pen, and paper calendar.
Color! Or do a puzzle, play a game, bake, build something! You can start small by carving out 2-3 screen-free hours and keeping your hands busy with a creative, analog project or activity.
Get together IN PERSON! When you can, of course. Yes, it’s inconvenient. Yes, it takes more time outta’ your day. And yes, it’s so so so much better and leads to more community and connection.
Ditch your phone whenever possible! Enough said. As with so many things, less screentime really is more.
In a world where we’re constantly choosing between analog vs. digital experiences, Kelsey Green offers simple practices and habits that help reduce your reliance on tech.
